Open Source Software Services meet-up

The Center for Digital Trust (C4DT) welcomed participants from all over EPFL to the Spring edition of our Open Source Services meet-up on March 25th. As usual, the meet-up is an opportunity for EPFL’s open source community to gather and exchange ideas and experiences. The first part of the meet-up was a round of lightning talks followed by break-out discussion groups to allow participants to dive deeper into the topics. The meet-up was wrapped up by an open-ended pizza lunch where participants could continue to chat about their experiences running and using OSS services at EPFL.

Code publishing good practices guidelines

The ENAC-IT4R team was delighted to have us for a working session on updating their resources « Code publishing Good practices guidelines ». Various discussions were held around the different topics, and ENAC vows to keep their list updated which you can find here: ENAC IT4R - scroll to the end of the page As a reminder, you’re also welcome to our weekly ENAC-IT4R’s team Tech meeting. The aim is to stay up-to-date with latest data and software technologies relevant to our ENAC research community, on and off campus 🙂 Living schedule.

January 2025 RSE lunch

It was a fun reunion to start 2025 with some of the RSEs at EPFL. Celebrating the birthday of one of our RSEs who prefers vegan food, we united in the Foodlab to have a vegan dish with vegan cookies and vegan water. You were all patient to listen to daddy Linus and Edward telling you stories about the “good old times” - and thanks for chiming in and telling your stories, too!

October Lightning Talks

It was a pleasure meeting you all for the lightning talks! Thanks for the presentators and the public for the questions. We had the following talks: Carine Dengler: Local LLMs for fun, profit and nonesense Nicolas Richart: Spack - a package manager for HPC that can be use on any machine Uwe Schmitt (ETHZ): pytest-regtest - a pytest plugin for snapshot testing In addition, we also discussed new projects for the RSEs at EPFL and beyond.

From GitHub to Zenodo: pros, cons and integration of the two platforms As researcher engineers, you understand the importance of efficient version control and collaborative development. We’ll meet in the cafeteria hall. Please note that you do not need to buy your food from the cafeteria. You can bring it from home or buy it at the food trucks. Hoping to see many of you there !
